There are quite a few versions of the magnetic cat door on the market today. There are regular cat flaps that sport magnets on the bottom and/or sides to keep the flap closed in the wind and rain, there are special electronic cat doors that use magnets to open and close as your pet approaches. There is even a model of magnetic cat door that operates soley on powerful magnets so that it’s not dependent on electricity or batteries at all.

This last version is incredibly economical and secure since the flap will work even when electricity is out, and, of course, the expense of batteries are nonexistant, as well as the concern of your cat being trapped inside or outside should the batteries run low being reduced to nothing.

Since the magnetically operated cat flaps cost almost the same as a regular cat flap, it’s certainly a worthwhile purchase to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort.
